BBMB Organizes Extensive Activities Under Swachhta Pakhwada

Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) successfully organized a series of activities as part of Swachhta Pakhwada from 16th May to 31st May 2024. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene across all BBMB project stations, offices, residential complexes and rest houses through mass awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives.
These efforts extended to various markets and religious places, ensuring widespread community engagement. Key activities included enlightening lectures, seminars, and competitions designed to promote the essence of cleanliness.
Additionally, a Nukkad Natak was organized in Nangal, featuring BBMB employees, nursing staff from BBMB Hospital and school students who collectively spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness.'This year, BBMB introduced several new initiatives to its Swachhta campaign. In collaboration with the NGO “Pratigya,” BBMB’s Beas Dam administration launched the initiative “Ek Soch Plastic Parivartan Ki Aur.”
This project aims to create 51,000 eco-bricks with the help of students from 18 different schools in Talwara. The initiative focuses on educating the younger generation about plastic upcycling and inspiring them to create zero-waste bricks, which will be used to build an eco-friendly park in Talwara.
In a parallel effort to conserve water, BBMB has installed water aerators on all water taps in its offices in Chandigarh. Additionally, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, BBMB motivated its employees and the general public to dispose of waste plastic bottles using Plastic Crusher Machines installed in Sectors 17, 22, 32 and 35.
On International Menstrual Hygiene Day, BBMB distributed reusable eco-friendly sanitary napkins to women in Bhaskar Colony, further emphasizing its commitment to promoting hygiene and sustainability. The Swachhta Pakhwada concluded with a Swachhta Run on 31st May 2024, in which BBMB employees and the general public participated.
Chairman Sh. Manoj Tripathi highlighted the event as an awareness program emphasizing the significance of cleanliness in daily life.He affirmed that the lessons learned during this campaign would be integrated into BBMB’s daily activities, ensuring the continuation of such initiatives for the benefit of society and the nation.
