Mir unfurls tri-colour at Kupwara, takes salute, distributes prizes

Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir on 67th Independence Day unfurled tri-colour at  District Police Lines Kupwara and took salute on the march past presented by contingents of JKP, Home Guard, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NCC and school children. The school children and local artists also presented cultural programmes on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister apprised the people about the internal and external threats looming large on the State. He stressed the need for working together for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the state. He urged upon the educated youth for working honestly and dedicatedly for their bright future, saying that they have to come forward for availing benefits of the schemes launched by the Central and State governments for their welfare. He said that along with the Country, the State also has achieved a lot in various sectors. 

Appealing the people for imparting modern and technical education to their wards, the Minister said that it would become them to compete at national and international levels. He appreciated the District Administration working for addressing the problems of the people especially for provision of irrigation and drinking water facilities in the district. The artists for Information Department and school children performed colourful culture programme on the occasion. Later, the Minister presented awards and trophies who performed well on the occasion of Independence Day. 

Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr. Itrat Hussain Rafique, SSP, Abdul Jabar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, besides senior civil and police officers from district administration, Army officers, political leaders, prominent citizens and large numbers of people and school children were present on the occasion. Moreover, the Independence Day celebrations were also organized at Handwara and Karnah tehsil headquarters, where the tehsil officers hoisted the National Flag.
