Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presides over closing ceremony of International Shivratri Fair

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla while presiding over the closing ceremony of the week-long International Shivratri Fair at Mandi today said that fairs and festivals of Himachal Pradesh were distinctive in their own way and were the means for celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the State.
He said that rich colours of tradition witnessed during these festivals should be preserved for posterity as they affirm our identity as a great Nation. Lady Governor Smt. Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.
While extending greetings on the occasion the Governor said that he was fortunate enough to obtain blessings of the local deities besides witnessing the splendor of the Shivratri Mahotsav and the unique Dev tradition of Himachal Pradesh for the first time.
In this unique festival of Dev Samagam, where the devotees get an opportunity to have glimpse of local 'Devi and Devtas', the visitors also get acquainted about the traditions and civilization of Chhoti Kashi and its customs", said Shukla.
He said that the Mandi Shivratri is not just a fair it is a festival to preserve our cultural heritage. Earlier, the Governor paid obeisance at Madhorai Temple and also participated in the Shobha Yatra. Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman Mela Committee Apurv Devgan, welcomed and honoured the Governor. He also detailed about the week-long activities held during the International Shivratri festival.
A cultural programme was also organized on the occasion. Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, MLAs Anil Sharma, Chander Shekhar, Vinod Kumar, Rakesh Jamwal, Inder Singh, Prakash Rana, Dalip Thakur, Puran Chand, Deep Raj and Surinder Shauri, Chairman, Zila Parishad, Sanjeev Guleria, Chairman, APMC, Virender Bhatt, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Mandi, Sakshi Verma and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.The Governor and the lady governor also paid obeisance at Bhootnath and Tarna Mata temple in the morning.

राज्यपाल शिव प्रताप शुक्ल ने आज मण्डी में सप्ताह भर चलने वाले अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शिवरात्रि महोत्सव के समापन समारोह की अध्यक्षता करते हुए कहा कि हिमाचल के त्योहारों व उत्सवों की विश्वभर में एक अलग पहचान है और इनके माध्यम से प्रदेश की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत की झलक देखने को मिलती है। उन्होंने प्रदेश की संस्कृति को भावी पीढ़ी के लिए संरक्षित करने पर बल देते हुए कहा कि युवा पीढ़ी हमारे देश व राज्य की एक ऐसी ऊर्जावान शक्ति है जो हमें विश्वभर में मजबूत राष्ट्र के रूप में पहचान दिलाएगी। इस अवसर पर लेडी गर्वनर जानकी शुक्ल भी उनके साथ उपस्थित थीं।
शिवरात्रि महोत्सव की लोगों को शुभकामनाएं देते हुए राज्यपाल ने कहा कि वह भाग्यशाली हैं कि उन्हें स्थानीय देवी-देवताओं का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त हुआ है और वह शिवरात्रि महोत्सव की भव्यता एवं देव परम्पराओं के भी साक्षी बने हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि देव समागम के इस अद्भुत उत्सव में प्रदेशवासी स्थानीय देवी-देवताओं की झलक पाकर उनका आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करते हैं। इसके अलावा पर्यटक भी छोटी काशी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध मण्डी में इस महोत्सव के आयोजन से प्रदेश की समृद्ध संस्कृति एवं परम्पराओं से रू-ब-रू होते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि मंडी शिवरात्रि केवल एक महोत्सव नहीं है, यह हमारी सांस्कृतिक विरासत को संरक्षित करने का त्योहार है। इससे पूर्व, राज्यपाल ने माधोराय मंदिर में पूजा-अर्चना की और शोभा यात्रा में भी भाग लिया।उपायुक्त एवं अध्यक्ष मेला समिति अपूर्व देवगन ने राज्यपाल का स्वागत किया एवं उन्हें सम्मानित किया और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शिवरात्रि महोत्सव के दौरान आयोजित गतिविधियों के बारे में भी विस्तार से जानकारी दी। इस अवसर पर सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम का भी आयोजन किया गया।
इस अवसर पर पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और नेता प्रतिपक्ष जय राम ठाकुर, विधायक अनिल शर्मा, चंद्र शेखर, विनोद कुमार, राकेश जम्वाल, इंद्र सिंह, प्रकाश राणा, दलीप ठाकुर, पूरन चंद, दीपराज और सुरिंदर शौरी, अध्यक्ष जिला परिषद संजीव गुलेरिया, अध्यक्ष एपीएमसी वीरेंद्र भट्ट, नगर निगम मंडी की महापौर साक्षी वर्मा सहित अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति भी उपस्थित थे।इससे पूर्व राज्यपाल और धर्मपत्नी ने भूतनाथ और टारना माता मंदिर में भी पूजा-अर्चना की।
