Shopian District Gears Up for Pulse Polio Immunization Day 2024 Under Leadership of DC Faz Lul Haseeb

Shopian's Deputy Commissioner, Faz Lul Haseeb, led a crucial meeting of the District Task Force at the Mini-Secretariat to finalize plans for the upcoming Pulse Polio Immunization day on March 3, 2024. The gathering aimed to streamline efforts and enhance awareness for the polio vaccination drive, which is part of the national endeavor to ensure polio eradication.

During the meeting, strategies for the National Immunization Day were thoroughly reviewed, with an emphasis on spreading the message that "Vaccines Work for All." The Deputy Commissioner urged health officials and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Zainapora to work in tandem, ensuring all logistical and operational requirements are met for the successful execution of the Pulse Polio program.

The district administration pledged full support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to facilitate smooth and effective vaccination efforts. In addition, the DC called for immediate commencement of targeted publicity campaigns and engaged the Chief Education Officer of Shopian to mobilize educational institutions in raising awareness and participation for the event.

The meeting revealed that 241 vaccination booths will be operational across the district, including four transit hubs, 20 religious sites, and 35 remote locations designated as focal points for the immunization drive.

Key attendees included the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; representatives from the Programme Officer of ICDS, SDM Zainapora, ACR, CMO, District Nodal Officer for Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM), Deputy CMO, District Immunization Officer, BMO, and other departmental representatives. This collective effort underscores Shopian's commitment to safeguarding its children against polio and contributing to India's goal of maintaining its polio-free status.
