Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Reviews Progress of New State-of-the-Art Bone & Joint Hospital Block in Srinagar

In an important development for healthcare in the Kashmir Valley, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, inspected the nearly completed new Bone & Joint Hospital Block in Srinagar, signaling a significant enhancement in patient care and medical infrastructure in the region. 

With over 70% of the construction work already finalized, the 160-bed facility is poised to become operational within the next month.Accompanied by key officials including CEO of Smart City Srinagar, Dr. Owais Ahmad; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi ud din Bhat; and senior engineers and medical professionals, Bidhuri's visit underscored the government's commitment to advancing healthcare services in the Valley. 

The new block, funded by the World Bank and executed by the National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC), is equipped with modern amenities such as 6 ICU beds, 12 Pre and Post Operation rooms, and 3 Modular Operating Theatres. It also boasts earthquake protection features, a pneumatic tube transfer system, and an advanced Hospital Management & Information System.

During his visit, Bidhuri chaired a meeting where he emphasized the importance of adhering to the project's timelines to ensure its swift completion. He also instructed the construction of a bridge for easy patient transfer between the new block and the existing hospital building, and the development of an emergency unit as a critical component of the hospital's services. 

Further, Bidhuri urged the exploration of relocating the power grid station from the hospital premises to enhance safety and convenience.Additionally, he directed the CEO of Smart City to develop a one-way Bund Road in a loop around the hospital to facilitate easier access for patients and the construction of a parking area to alleviate congestion. 

These directives are part of a broader effort to not only improve healthcare infrastructure but also to ensure the overall accessibility and functionality of the hospital for the benefit of patients and healthcare providers alike.
