Vigilance Bureau (VB), Punjab today nabbed a private driver of Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Mobile Wing), Patiala, red-handed, while accepting bribe money Rs.20,000.Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that Mr. Sukhdev Singh of Village-Tranjikhera (Khadiali) of Tehsil Sunam (Sangrur) complained that Richhipal alias Jaspal Singh, working as private driver of Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Mobile Wing), Patiala, was demanding Rs.20,000 as bribe besides government fee for plying his loaded trucks, failing which, he threatened to stop the movement of his trucks.Acting on the tip-off, a trap was laid by the team of Vigilance Bureau Unit, Patiala led by DSP K.D. Sharma and accused Richhipal Singh alias Jaspal Singh was arrested red-handed, while accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000 on behalf of Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Mobile Wing), Patiala.A case under section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered against the driver in Vigilance Police Station, Patiala Range.
