In anticipation of the impending inauguration of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's ambitious Punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (PILBS) in Mohali, Punjab's Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, launched the institute's website "www.pilbs.punjab.gov.in" to facilitate public access.

The unveiling took place in the presence of the Institute's Director, Professor Virendra Singh, a former Professor and Head of the Department of Hepatology at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr. Balbir Singh revealed that the institute, which has been offering Outpatient Department (OPD) services for the past eight months at 3B1, SAS Nagar, is on the verge of full functionality.

The installation of state-of-the-art equipment is underway, and the recruitment of super-specialist doctors and para-medical staff has been successfully completed. Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that the fully operational institute would provide top-notch medical care for patients with liver and biliary diseases.

Patients grappling with various liver conditions, including acute and chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer, alcoholic liver disease, ascites, pancreatic diseases, gallbladder disorders, and more, will have access to comprehensive treatment at the institute.

Additionally, the institute will facilitate liver transplant procedures, aligning its services with The Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi. This makes it the second government super-specialty institute dedicated to liver and biliary disease care in the country.

The newly launched website aims to educate patients about disease overviews, preventive measures, and health education. It will also provide information about laboratory tests, online reporting, procedures, and liver transplantation.

Details about the faculty, OPD schedules, specialties offered at the hospital, and Tele-Medicine services for outreach to all government hospitals in Punjab will be available on the website for the public's convenience. The website serves as a comprehensive resource for those seeking information about the upcoming super-specialty medical facility.
