Anil Vij today laid foundation stone for the construction work of Defense Colony Bandh Road in Ambala Cantonment, costing around 1.25 crores rupees

Haryana Home and Health Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that making Defense Colony Kachha Bandh Road in Ambala Cantonment is the first project of its kind where the army and the state government are working together. Ambala Cantonment is a beautiful city, and working together enhances the city's development.

Sh. Vij, after laying the foundation stone of the construction work of Defense Colony Kachha Bandh Road with a cost of 1.25 crores rupees in Ambala Cantonment, addressed the large crowd present. Before this, officials from Defense Colony Good Citizen Welfare Society and Cantonment Board greeted Chief Guest Home Minister Anil Vij and Station Commander Brigadier Ranjeet Singh with mementos and shawls.

Defense Colony Bandh Road has undertaken numerous development projects in Ambala Cantonment Assembly constituency- Vij

Home Minister Anil Vij stated that initially, Defense Colony area was not in his assembly constituency, but as soon as it came under his jurisdiction, he initiated various development projects for the residents. He emphasized that any future projects suggested by the people in this area will be completed. He mentioned that approximately 1.25 crore rupees will be spent on the construction of Kachha Bandh Road, with 50 lakh rupees from his discretionary fund and 75 lakh rupees from the Cantonment Board.

Where there were no glimpses of development works, development activities were undertaken- Vij

Home and Health Minister Anil Vij stated that not only Defense Colony but also the colonies of BD Flour Mill, where there were no glimpses of development works, have seen developmental activities. Chandrapuri and Sundar Nagar, which lacked development, have also witnessed developmental projects, he added.

The state government should take over Defense Colony Bandh Road- Vij

Home and Health Minister Anil Vij mentioned that the situation of Ambala Cantonment is unique in terms of jurisdiction. Some areas come under the Municipal Corporation, while others fall under the Cantonment Board. Defense Colony Bandh Road, under the Cantonment Board, should be transferred to the state government for easier future development work.

A Shaheed Smarak is under construction with a cost of 5 billion rupees-Vij

Home Minister Anil Vij said that the construction of an international-level Shaheed Smarak in Ambala on GT Road, dedicated to martyrs, with a cost of 500 crores of rupees. He highlighted that Ambala Cantonment played a significant role in the first battle for independence, and this memorial is a tribute to the sacrifices made.

He said that the construction of a 6-lane ring road around Ambala Cantonment is underway, which will be close to Defense Colony. Ambala-Saharanpur Road, formerly an accident-prone road, has been upgraded to a four-lane national highway. Modern facilities in Ambala Cantonment include a civil hospital, Atal Cancer Care Center, homeopathic college, FIFA-approved football stadium, Olympic-size swimming pool, gymnasium, Gandhi Ground, and a shopping mall.

Previously, officials of Defense Colony Good Citizen Welfare Society expressed gratitude to Home Minister for the historic gift received. They highlighted that this road is the lifeline of Defense Colony. Society Chairman Retired Colonel M.S. Mehla provided detailed information to the Home Minister about the society's efforts for public welfare. Members also mentioned various development works undertaken in all wards under the Cantonment Board.
