DC Provides Body Warmers to 575 Students to combat cold weather

In wake of unfurling of Tri Colour by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains to mark 75th Republic Day at Shaheed Major (Shaurya Chakra) Harminder Pal Singh Government College Stadium, Mohali on January 26, 2024, Full Dress Rehearsal was held by District Administration to finalise the preparations going on for the last many days. 

DC Aashika Jain along with SSP Dr Sandeep Garg inspected the parade and March Past. Three Police platoons, including one of women police, platoons of NCC cadets and school bands of various schools participated in the March Past led by DSP Harsimrat Singh Chhetra as Parade Commander. Deputy Commissioner also distributed body warmers to all the 575 students performing during the celebrations to combat cold and chilly weather. 

About 600 students from 12 schools presented a grand show with full Nationalistic zeal. Despite of severe cold weather, the Students performed zealously during the cultural events with their various group songs and other activities based on patriotic themes including the students of Government Senior Secondary Smart School Sohana, National Public School Kurali, Paragon School Sector 70, Mohali, APJ School Mundi Kharar, Government Model Senior Secondary School, 3B1 Mohali, Shiwalik Public School, Phase 6, Mohali, Special Children from Government Primary School 3B1 Mohali. 

The platoons who took part in Parade included NCC cadets from Govt College Mohali, Doon International School, Shiwalik Public School and band teams from Government Girls senior Secondary School Sohana and Government Model Senior Secondary School, 3B1, Mohali. After monitoring the full dress rehearsal, the deputy commissioner issued necessary directions to the various departments engaged in arrangements to make the R-Day Celebrations a great success. 

She said that the preparations for this mega event were going on in full swing and every effort would be made to ensure that the National Importance day should be celebrated with full patriotic and nationalistic fervor. The Deputy Commissioner further said that the officers have been assigned duties regarding the event and any sort of callousness in this duty would be unwarranted and undesirable. 

Officers present in the meeting included SSP Dr Sandeep garg, ADC (G) Viraj Shyamkarn Tidke, Commissioner MC Mrs Navjot Kaur, ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, ADC (RD) Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Chandrajyoti Singh, AC (G) Harjit Mavi, Chief Minister Field Officer Inder Pal, Joint Commissioner MC Kiran Sharma, Davy Goyal Assistant Commissioner (UT), SPs Jyoti Yadav and Manpreet Singh, DDPO Amaninder Pal Singh Chauhan, DEO Dr Ginni Duggal.
