DC Aashika Jain takes stock of Republic Day Preparations

Assigned duties to the officials for the smooth run of the programme

Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain took stock of the preparedness for the Republic Day Celebrations scheduled to be observed on January 26, 2024, at Shaheed Major (Shaurya Chakra) Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Mohali. She said that in view of visit of Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains, the administration is gearing up for district level Republic Day celebrations to make it colorful and memorable event. 

She said that the National Flag would be unfurled by the Chief Guest at 10 am sharp. He would inspect the Parade especially prepared to mark the National Importance of the Day before delivering his speech on the special occasion of the Day on which 75 years ago our constitution had come into force.

A grand march past based on the inclusion of Police, Home guards and NCC volunteers will also be taken out to salute the National Flag and Chief Guest. Tableaus based on welfare and development schemes would also be showcased in this programme, she said by adding that a colourful bonanza of cultural activities would also be presented by the school children.

She said that though the days are chilly but we are taking extra care of the students who have to perform and participate in the programme. Medical teams, refreshment and drinking water would be available in the ground on rehearsal days as well as Republic day. She asked the officials overseeing the various tasks, to remain vigilant and diligent towards their duties to avoid any iota of reluctance.
