In order to enrol the maximum number of voters for Gurudwara Board Elections, the District Administration reached out to Gurudwaras for roping in Gurudwara Committees to push the enrollment drive which would continue till February 29, 2024. Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain who visited Gurudwara Sahib Sohana along with Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chandrajyoti Singh, interacted with the management and appealed them to sensitise the eligible Sikhs to fill up and submit forms to become voters by the due date.

She said that during the review meeting, it was found that the total number of forms received so far is too low. She said that as the rural voters have to submit the forms with Revenue Patwaris and urban voters with the Local Municipal Council, so we should immediately be in touch with them to become voters of Gurudwara Board Elections.

She said that as per the eligible criteria mentioned in form -1 by the Chief Commissioner, Gurudwara Elections, it is a must for every eligible voter to be a Keshadhari Sikh, non-trimmer, non-smoker, non-drinker etc. The eligible voter must attain an age of 21 years, she further added.

She further said that the Patwaris and MC Employees should contact the local Gurudwara Committees in their jurisdiction and fix a day for special enrollment camp. Before holding the camp, it must ensure wild publicity to the residents through the loudspeakers of the Gurudwara Sahibs. She also visited the camp arranged by the Halka Patwari in the Gurudwara Sahib, Sohana and said that the special camp has fetched a good response.
