Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday expressed serious concern over the affairs of Muslim world, adding, there are 57 Muslim countries in the world which forms 1/4th of world population and 1/5th of the global land mass under their control.

In connection with the observance of Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Qudoos on the eve of Jumait-ul-Vida, a number of gatherings and congregations were organized across Kashmir during which the Hurriyat leaders highlighted the significance of Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Qudus and presented a resolution prepared by Hurriyat Conference (M) for public approval. The biggest gathering was organized at historic Jamia Masjid during which the devotees prayed for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine. Addressing the gathering of lakhs of people, Mirwaiz stated that 70 percent of fossil fuels including crude oil and 50 percent raw material lie with Muslim countries. He said being rich in resources and manpower, the Muslims do not have the rightful say and significant clout in the world affairs. Because of sectarian pisions intersect rifts and mindless clashes amongst themselves Muslims have become weak and for this reason have become the victims of aggression by others.

Referring to the Muslim world, Mirwaiz stated Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Palestine, and Kashmir are pided among themselves due to sectarian rifts, inter-sect tensions and internal quarrels which is harming the cause of Islam and Muslims.Sternly condemning the Israeli aggression on Gaza, Mirwaiz stated despite such a horrendous situation in Gaza, silence of international community, UN, and Arab league was highly regrettable and a cause of concern. He stated that if Muslim world would realize its potential, Israel would not have dared to massacre Palestinians and stop the Muslims from offering prayers at Masjid-e-Aqsa.Reports reaching KNS said that Mirwaiz announced that this Eid-ul-Fitar would be celebrated with simplicity and modestly in order to express solidarity with the suffering people of Gaza. He stated that despite Kashmiri being oppressed and suffering, they would continue to stand up alongside with the Palestinians.

Welcoming the foreign secretary level talks between India and Pakistan, Mirwaiz stated that Hurriyat Conference (M) would welcome any decision by India and Pakistan to take up the Kashmir Issue in a more serious way and as a matter of priority at the highest political levels. From the past experiences, it’s very clear that bureaucrats cannot tackle what is essentially a political issue requiring real statesmanship. If Kashmir were to be elevated as an issue to be pursued at the top political level – at the Prime Ministerial level – the people of Kashmir would take this as a very welcome sign of seriousness on the part of India and Pakistan towards conflict resolution.

Mirwaiz said that the newly-elected government in New Delhi must not repeat the same mistakes as previous governments have made - of relying on militaristic approaches, while believing that time alone would resolve the Kashmir Issue.APHC Chairman stated that AFSPA, PSA and other black laws would not suppress the spirits of Kashmiri people and our struggle would continue till the lasting solution is reached. On the occasion, Mirwaiz presented a resolution before the people in connection with the Youme-e-Qudus and Youm-e-Kashmir for their approval which was approved on the occasion.A number of gatherings were organized by Hurriyat leaders across the valley during which they highlighted the significance of Youm-e-Qudoos and Youm-e-Kashmir and presented the Hurriyat drafted resolutions before the people.
