Japan Earthquake News - Japan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6, which led officials to issue a tsunami warning. There were no early reports of damage. Since statistics commenced to be kept in 1885, the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan is the greatest to have ever been felt in the Noto Peninsula region of Ishikawa prefecture. 

According to a representative of the Japan Meteorological Agency, Monday's incident is the first significant tsunami warning since March 11, 2011. Additionally, it's the first earthquake to strike Japan with a seismic strength of 7.0 since September 2018.

After the Earthquake of 7.6 Magnitude fire breaks in Wajima city damages at least six homes

After the 7.6 Magnitude earthquake there are several reports coming out of fire breaks in many cities. As per the fresh reports there are at least 5 to 6 homes destroyed and also the fire breaks incident seen and reported by the residents. Many of the occupants get trapped in the building as well.

More than 30,000 houses in Wajima city, Ishikawa prefecture, do not have electricity due to a fire, according to government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi, who also mentioned that the Japanese military was assisting with the rescue operations. Video captured by Japanese media showed people racing through the streets and crimson smoke rising from a residential neighbourhood fire.

Despite the cold, inhabitants were advised to evacuate by large letters flashing on public television: "EVACUATE".

Tsunami Warning Issued By The Japan’s Meteorological Agency

Following a string of powerful earthquakes that rocked western regions, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for the coastline districts of Ishikawa, Niigata, and Toyama prefectures, according to the reports.

According to NHK, waves that were more than a metre high struck the coast of Wajima City in Ishikawa Prefecture.

Additionally, footage of people's houses and subway cars trembling on Monday, New Year's Day, were uploaded to the internet.
