Dr. Deepak Mittal, Joint Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, visited Moga district today to review the work being done under the Aspirational District Program launched by the NITI Ayog.  On this occasion, he held a meeting with the concerned officials and also visited Guru Sahib Charitable Society Khosa Kotla, Water Harvesting System Khosa Jalal, and Government Primary School Patti Rupa.

Appreciating the work being done under the Aspirational District Programme, Dr. Deepak Mittal said that ever since this program was implemented, the performance of district Moga has been going very well. District Moga has received about Rs 14 crore from NITI Aayog so far.  The work, being done under this program, would help to make this district from Aspirational to Inspirational.

He said that public interest schemes are created and implemented by various governments but their benefits do not reach every eligible beneficiary.  Neither can any improvement be made from time to time due to lack of proper feedback.

He said that for the proper implementation of the Aspirational District Program, it is necessary to work beyond the statistics.  Efforts should be made to transform Moga from an 'aspirational' to an 'inspirational' district as soon as possible.

These efforts can only be successful by working as a team. He said that efforts should be made to stop the continuous falling underground water level in the district.  He particularly appreciated the works being done to eradicate tuberculosis and malnutrition, stop the problem of stubble burning, and provide bala kits for personal hygiene to girls, to make the district anemia-free.

He said that the potter cluster and shoe cluster being set up in district Moga should be promoted more and the products being produced by self-help groups should be provided the market.  He said that Punjab can show the way to the entire country. Punjabis should move forward in this direction.

There was a time when Punjabis were known all over the world for their good health and hospitality. Today it is necessary that this glory of Punjab should be restored. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh, Mr. Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal, and Ms. Anita Darshi, both Additional Deputy Commissioners and other officers were present in the meeting.
