Swift action by DC Jitendra Jorwal on the issue of health deterioration of students of Meritorious School Ghabdan

Strict legal action ordered against the canteen contractor, most of the students returns home after primary treatment

As soon as the matter of health deterioration of the students of meritorious school Ghabdan came to light, the district administration Sangrur took immediate action and initiated the process to penalise the canteen contractor. While divulging these details, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal today in a press conference in the presence of SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal and other officials, said that following the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, no officer or employee of any level involved in this matter will be spared. 

He said that a four-member committee has been formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sangrur Charanjot Singh Walia for a thorough investigation of all aspects in this case, which will submit its report within a week. He said that Tehsildar, District Education Officer Secondary and Senior Medical Officer are the other members of this committee. 

The Deputy Commissioner said that last night 18 students were admitted in the Civil Hospital Sangrur, out of which 14 returned home after treatment and today about 36 more students were admitted to the Civil Hospital and 20 students were admitted to the PGI Center in Ghabadan and condition of students was stable. He said that none of the students faced any problem like diarrhea or vomiting in the hospital, but according to the students, they had this problem after eating in the school. 

Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal said that 2 doctors, 14 para-medical staff and 2 ambulances have been deployed at Meritorious School Ghabadan as a precautionary measure by the district administration. He said that as this matter came to light, the food sampling was also being done in the remaining 9 meritorious schools of Punjab. 

He said that action was being taken to file an FIR apart from canceling the contract of the vendor named King's Cliff in Ghabdan Meritorious School with immediate effect.Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal categorically said that children are the future of the country and strict action will be taken against those who play with their health. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, District Education Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Civil Surgeon Dr Anju and Senior Medical Officer Kirpal Singh were also present during the press conference.
