Punjab State Inter University Youth Fair 2023 Kicks Off with Enthusiasm and Cultural Splendor

The vibrancy and spirit of Punjab came alive as the Punjab State Inter University Youth Fair 2023 commenced amidst fervor and the pulsating beats of Bhangra. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Dasmesh Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University, formally inaugurated by S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Cabinet Minister of NRI Affairs. Notable dignitaries including Dr. Jiwan Jot Kaur, MLA, and all Assistant Directors of Youth Services department graced the occasion, marking the commencement of this grand event.

S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal expressed that this festival, a vision cherished by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Maan, symbolizes the aspiration for a prosperous (Rangla) Punjab. Emphasizing the significance of culture in societal growth, he stressed the need to revive and strengthen it through such youth-oriented festivals. He lauded the Government of Punjab and Guru Nanak Dev University for their joint efforts in organizing this state-level extravaganza, aligning the youth with the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Highlighting the Chief Minister's vision for a thriving Punjab deeply rooted in its heritage, S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal commended the initiative led by S. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hier, Minister of Youth, in promoting sports and cultural activities to deter youth involvement in substance abuse. He also commended the government's initiative in facilitating a religious travel for senior citizens from Amritsar, showcasing commendable social responsibility.

The event witnessed diverse competitions and activities across various venues. Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Students Welfare, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed chief guest and talented student artists on behalf of Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr. Amandeep Singh, Incharge of the Youth Welfare Department, highlighted the university's accomplishments in cultural and sports domains.

The festival's schedule is packed with a myriad of engaging competitions. Today in the Dasmesh Auditorium Bhangra, Mimicry and Skits was organized and in the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre, the competitions of Traditional Costume, Bhand, Mime, Group Shabad, Classical Vocal (Hindustani/Karnatka) and Group Shabad were organized. Heritage Quiz competition was organized in the conference hall and in the Architecture Department the competitions of Kadhaee (Bagh/Phulkari), Knitting Hand Fan, Knitting Nala, Knitting Gudian Patole, Knitting Chhiku, Knitting Paranda, Karoshia, Knitting Pidhi, Knitting Innu Binnu, Soil Clay Toys, Knitting Rope and Knitting Baskets were organized.

On November 27 In the Dasmesh Auditorum, One act play competitions will be organized.  In the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre, the competitions of Gazal, folk Song, Classical Instrumental Taal/percussion and Sawar/Non Percussion will be held. In the Conference Hall Idiomical Discussion and Short Film Making will be held and on the stage of Architecture Department, the competitions of On the spot Painting, Collage, Poster Making, Clay Modelling, Still Life, Mehndi and on the spot Photography will be held.

On November 28, He said that the competitions of Jhumar, Classical Dance (Kathak/Bharat Natyam/Udisi and Kathakali etc and Luddi Open/Sammi will be held. In the Convention Centre, Competitions of Kavishri, Vaar Singing & Kali and the competitions of Debate and Elocution will be held. 

He said that on the last day in the dasmesh auditorium the competition of Gidha and in the Convention centre, traditional folk Songs and Folk Orchestra will be held.The Punjab State Inter University Youth Fair 2023 stands as a testament to the government's commitment to nurturing cultural roots and providing a platform for the youth to thrive and contribute positively to society.
