Vigilance Caught ASI And Assistant Registrar In Graft Case

The Vigilance Bureau (VB), Punjab today nabbed an ASI and Assistant Registrar (AR), Co-operative Societies, red-handed in graft cases in two different traps in the state.An official spokesperson of the VB said that Jaskaran Singh of Naseebpura (Kaile Bandar), Tehsil-Talwandi Sabo lodged complaint with Vigilance Unit, Bathinda that ASI Darshan Singh, posted at Rama Police Station was demanding Rs.10,000 to submit challan in the court against his brother-in-law, who was lodged in jail on charges of his sister’s death case and the deal was struck at Rs.5,000. Acting on the tip of the complainant, the team of Vigilance Unit, Bathinda caught ASI Darshan Singh red-handed with the bribe money of Rs.5,000.In second such trap, the team of Vigilance Bureau Unit, Ferozepur apprehended Surjeet Kumar Dhiman, Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Socieities, Jalalabad (West), district Fazilka, red-handed with the bribe money of Rs.10,000. He was nabbed on the tip of Mr. Ramesh Singh, Secretary, Multipurpose Co-operative Agriculture Society Limited of Sukhera Bodla (Fazilka), who alleged that Dhiman was demanding Rs.20,000 as illegal gratification to settle the departmental complaint in his favour and the deal was matured at Rs.10,000.Cases under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 have been registered against the culprits in the concerned Vigilance Police Stations.
