Karnatka SC Commission Visits Punjab: Calls On Speaker Vidhan Sabha

A high level delegation of Karnataka State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes today visited Punjab Vidhan Sabha and office of Punjab SC Commission here. The delegation led by Chairman SC/ST Commission E. Ashwatha called on Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Dr. Charanjit Singh Atwal and Chairman Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes Mr. Rajesh Bagha. An official spokesman said that the delegation along with Dr. Atwal took a round of Punjab Vidhan Sabha besides knowing the functioning of Assembly. The Speaker apprised delegation about policies and programs of Punjab Government for the welfare of SCs in state.

The spokesman also said that after visiting Vidhan Sabha the delegation met Chairman of Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes Rajesh Bagha to know the functioning of Commission. They were apprised by the Commission in detail about the welfare policies. Bagha informed the delegation that Punjab Government has implemented various welfare schemes resulting  a great success of all policies including Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, Shagun Schemes, Pension Schemes, Atta-Daal Scheme, free power, scholarships at school level and special provisions to prevent atrocities on SCs and BCs. 

Expressing satisfaction over schemes with strict implementation, Mr. E. Ashwatha congratulated Punjab government and SC Commission for protecting the rights of SC population. He said the efforts being made by Mr. Rajesh Bagha to educate SC Students for taking full advantage of Post Matric Scholarship were commendable. He said such emulating Punjab impressive campaign regarding Post Matric Scholarship should also be launched in other parts of the country too.Prominent amongst those present in meeting included Mrs. Padma, Secretary Karnataka SC Commission, Mr. Satendra Kumar, Member, Mr. Parkash Singh Gardhiwala, Mrs. Bharti Keneddy, both members of Punjab SC Commission and Mr. Parminder Singh Gill, Director Welfare.
