Multifarious activities held across Kathua to mark celebration of National Unity Day, JK UT Foundation day

To commemorate the Twin events of National Unity Day and J&K UT Foundation Day, mega celebrations were held across district Kathua today. The main programme was organised in the DC Office complex which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner  Rakesh Minhas and attended by district and sectoral officers, winners of various competitions  and civil society members.

At the very outset, the Deputy Commissioner administered an integrity pledge to all the officers and officials wherein he enjoined upon them to reaffirm the commitment of the citizens of India to uphold the security, unity and integrity of the country. He recalled the contribution of Sardar Vallabhai Patel in laying the foundation of the Steel Frame of India.He impressed upon all the officers to uphold the ideals of fairness, equity and service in such a way that the benefits of all the schemes and policies percolate down to the last man in the queue.

Later, a documentary showcasing the achievements and journey of transformation of Jammu & Kashmir UT made during the last four years produced by the Information Department was screened followed by brief presentations on the progress made and online services offered by various departments on different fronts.

The event concluded with distribution of awards amongst the winners of various competitions held to inculcate the spirit of unity, integrity, competitiveness and sportsmanship besides other virtues.While addressing the students, the DC urged them to follow the footsteps of the iconic leader Sardar Vallabhai Patel who through his steadfastness, resoluteness and unwavering dedication paved the way for a united and integrated India which we are witnessing today. 

Similarly, activities including pledge taking Ceremonies, Run for Unity events, extempore, debate, symposium and sports events were held in all educational institutions and government establishments.
