Punjab to add more equestrian competitions next year, says Director Sports Harpreet Singh Sudan

Director, Youth and Sports, Punjab, Harpreet Singh Soodan said that the Punjab Government will add more equestrian competitions in next year's edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan.Visiting the day-2 of state level competitions of Horse Riding to perform a medal ceremony to the winners of day one and two, at Forest Hill Resorts, Karoran, in Mohali, he said that the  Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Government has included this year the basic competitions of the Horse Riding known as Show Jumping. 

But seeing the overwhelming response to the competition, we will consider it to expand to more competitions of equestrian games. He said that Horse Riding is the last event of this year's edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan', following which closing ceremony of the State level sports would be organised in coming days. He said that the second edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan has witnessed huge support from all walks of life as we have registered about Four lakh players on ground from block level to state events. 

He said that the main motive of the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Sports Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer was to inculcate a sense of sports among the budding players by making available competitive platforms like this to nurture them as future's stars. Setting up sports nurseries in the state in the coming days is the next move to achieve the goal, he added.

District Sports Officer, Gurdeep Kaur while giving the details of the winners of day 2, said that Bulawal Shergill from YPS Patiala adjudged first, Kanwar Gulrusselpreet Singh from PPS Nabha as first runner up in show jumping competition under 21 age group. In tent pegging lance, above 21, Simran bagged first position while Jagjit Singh and Patel were second and third respectively. All belong to Punjab Police. In this age group, in show jumping, Yuvraj Singh Brar from PPS Nabha, Sandeep Singh from PAP Chandigarh attained first and second rank respectively.

In, fault and out event, Bilawal Shergill and Gulrusselpreet Singh from YPS Patiala and PPS Nabha achieved first and second ranks respectively under 21 age group while under 17 group, Dhanveer Singh, Birkuwanveer Singh (both from PPS Nabha)  and Hridayjeet Singh Brar from Punjab Police got first , second and third rank respectively.

Director Sports expressed gratitude to the alumnus of PPS Nabha and Owners of The Ranch Chandigarh, Deepinder Singh Brar, Harjinder Singh Khosa and Harmandeep Singh Khehra for extending help to the Department in Organising the event. Tomorrow would be the last and final day.
