To create a drug-free Punjab, Patiala’s Civil and Police Administration, in a unique initiative, organized a Drug-Free Punjab Rally with the support of the Young Progressive Sikh Forum. Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Minister of Information and Public Relations, Punjab, along with MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, S.S.P. Varun Sharma, and Dr. Prabhleen Singh, jointly flagged off this bustling rally from the polo ground.

During this event, Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra conveyed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s resolute stance against drugs, emphasizing that action will be taken against those who support drug traffickers or facilitate bail for those involved in the illicit drug trade. He affirmed the Punjab government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the state’s youth from the clutches of drugs, and vowed that individuals linked to political figures who support drug traffickers will not be spared.

Chetan Singh Jouramajra also appealed to parents and school teachers to pay special attention to adolescents, ensuring they do not succumb to the drug menace through misguided peer associations. ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina emphasized the mission to make Punjab drug-free, underlining the importance of community support for the police. 

Chhina reiterated that Punjab, as a land of gurus, pirs, and warriors, would not be allowed to become a hub for drug trade. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney pledged to expand the anti-drug awareness campaign initiated by the district administration, with the aim of preventing young people from falling victim to drugs due to peer pressure. She encouraged those seeking help with drug addiction to contact the 24-hour ‘Sahiyogi Helpline’ at 0175-2213385, established at the Saket Drug De-addiction Center. 

SSP Varun Sharma affirmed the commitment of Patiala Police to disrupt the drug supply chain, in line with the directives of the Punjab Government. Dr. Prabhleen Singh extended gratitude to all participants for making the rally a success. The rally witnessed significant participation from students, youth, and residents of Patiala, covering a distance of 6 kilometers on foot and culminating with a collective pledge against drugs.
