Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu exhorts students to face challenges despite hindrances in life

Presides over 'STIMULUS', an annual function of IGMC Shimla

While presiding over the closing ceremony of the annual program 'Stimulus' of Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla today, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Health ID cards of all the residents of the state would be made by 30th November, which will have complete information about the health history of the patient on a single click. 

The state government was bringing major reforms in the health sector and many initiatives were being taken in this direction. To provide better health services to the people the Department of Emergency Medicine is being established to provide better health facilities. Robotic surgery will soon be started in Super Specialty Hospital Chamyana and at IGMC Shimla.

"When you are willing to put in the hours and energy required, you are more likely to make progress and achieve success in life. Many targets are not easily achievable and may invoke setbacks and failures, hard work teaches perseverance through challenges and one should continue working towards your goal, even when things get tough", stated the Chief Minister. One should not be afraid of defeat in life and keep going in tough situations, said Sh. Sukhu. The Chief Minister also recalled his college days and threw light on his political career.

The Chief Minister said that the present state government has amended the 51 year old "Himachal Pradesh Land Holding Ceiling Act 1972" to give daughters equal rights in the property at par with sons, under which adult daughters (married and unmarried) also have a separate share in the ancestral property.

The Chief Minister also announced Rs 5 lakh to the SCA,   IGMC Shimla and gave away prizes to the meritorious students. He also released the poster for the Annual National Conference of India Public Health Association to be organised at Manali from 15th to 17th March, 2024.

Health Minister, Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil also spoke on the occasion and exhorted the students to serve the people of the State with full dedication keeping alive the spirit of the Service. The Doctors, employees and students of IGMC contributed an amount of Rs. 6.11 lakh towards the Aapda Rahat Kosh and presented the cheque to the Chief Minister.
