NITI Aayog starts ABP in 10 districts of Punjab

After the success of the Aspirational District Program (ADP) in 112 developmentally backward districts of the country, NITI Aayog has now launched the Aspirational Block Program (ABP) in the most backward 500 blocks of the country. 10 blocks of Punjab have also been included in these blocks. Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi started this program from New Delhi yesterday. Addressing the event, the Prime Minister invited people from all walks the society to work for the all-round development of underdeveloped blocks with mass participation.

 Among the 10 selected blocks of Punjab are Nihal Singh Wala (District Moga), Makhu (Firozepur), Shahkot (Jalandhar), Dhuri (Sangrur), Dera Baba Nanak and Kalanaur (Gurdaspur), Ajnala and Harsha Chhina (Sri Amritsar Sahib), Dhillwan and Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala).Giving information about this, District Moga Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh said that NITI Aayog is already successfully running this program in 112 districts of the country including Moga and Ferozepur.  Education, Health, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Financial Inclusion and Skill development are given the greatest emphasis under this programme.  Several indicators have been put forward to measure this.

He said that the Aspirational District and Block Programs are an initiative of the Government of India to improve the performance and economic development of backward districts in various parameters.  In this regard, the Prime Minister started the "Sankalp Week" from October 3 to October 9.  During this week, various awareness activities will be conducted in these blocks, with which the awareness of the government schemes will be spread among the general public and this week will prove to be effective in bringing the government schemes to the ground level.
