Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla visits Namgia village under Vibrant Village Programe

On his visit to Namgia, the last border  village on India-China border, in district Kinnaur, Governor, Shiv Pratap Shukla said that he was so impressed by the culture of Kinnaur that he wants to come here time and again. The people here have preserved their rich culture and have a great sense of hospitality, he said. 

The governor is schedule to visit few more villages under the Vibrant Village programme. Lady Governor Smt. Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion."I have observed that the life of the people of the area was very hard here and the objective of the Vibrant Village program initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to provide more facilities to such villages of the country, usually termed as the first villages", he remarked adding that the Union Government is ensuring adequate infrastructural facilities in the villages under the programme.

The Governor said that many schemes were being implemented by the Central Government, the benefits of which would be available to the people under this programme. He also gave appropriate directions for early disposal of the demands of the local people. He said that efforts would be made to resolve some other demands by raising them at the appropriate level.

Ms. Torul Ravish, Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur welcomed the Governor and said that Namgia having population of nearly 360, was famous for its apples. She said that under the Vibrant Village program, a plan was being prepared for providing facilities like food processing, carpet weaving and handloom etc.Baldev Singh, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Namgia welcomed the Governor and briefed about the local demands.
