GDC Baramulla Hosts Special Lecture on "Creating Hope through Action" in Commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day

In observance of World Suicide Prevention Day 2023, the Department of Psychology at Government Degree College Baramulla, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC), organized a highly informative and impactful special lecture under the theme "Creating Hope Through Action." 

The event brought together students, faculty, and community members to address the critical issue of suicide prevention.Dr. Nazia Amin, an expert in the field of psychology, served as the lead speaker for the event. 

Her insightful presentation delved into the importance of creating hope through collective action and the role each individual can play in suicide prevention. Dr. Naziashed light on recognizing warning signs, providing support, and fostering a sense of hope among those facing emotional distress.

The event commenced with inaugural remarks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Farooq, the Principal of Government Degree College Baramulla. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of World Suicide Prevention Day and commended the collaboration between the Department of Psychology, NSS, and NCC in addressing this crucial societal issue.

The session was moderated by Miss Mursaleen, who ensured a smooth flow of discussions and engaged the audience with thought-provoking questions and insights.To conclude the event, Dr. Mohd AminWani offered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the participants, guest speaker, and all those who contributed to the success of the lecture.
