Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik today urged the Ludhiana residents to take maximum advantage of the “Bill Liyao, Inaam Pao” scheme, an initiative of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government to encourage buyers collect bills from dealers after purchase of goods.

Under this scheme, people could avail benefits up to Rs 29 lakh per month. A draw would be held on the seventh day of every month. The DC said the objective of the scheme was to increase tax compliance, to encourage and motivate Consumers to obtain Bills from dealers, to encourage dealers to issue Bills.

The eligibility criteria for availing benefit under this scheme is that any person having a Bill/Cash memo/Retail invoice (sale to customers only) for the purchases made in Punjab only, total minimum Bill value acceptable will be Rs.200/- (excluding value of tax-free goods and GST), business to business transactions are not eligible, Sale Bills of petroleum products (crude oil , petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel and natural gas) and liquor are not eligible for the draw since they are VATable items.

The DC said residents should register on the “Mera Bill” app after downloading it on their mobile phone either from Google Play Store or iOS and take advantage of the scheme. She said consumers could participate in a lucky draw by uploading the purchase bill on the app. 

The bill must have a minimum value of Rs 200. Sale bills of petroleum products and liquor are not eligible for the draw.

PCS Officers Promote Campaign:

In order to curb bogus billing, increase tax compliance and promote development in the state, PCS officers posted in the district also promoted ‘Mera bill‘ application and ‘bill liyao, Inaam pao‘ scheme.

Campaigning for this drive , the officers from various departments, SDM East Gursimran Singh Dhillon, EO GLADA Randeep Singh Heer, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ankur Mahindru, Assistant Commissioner Sales Tax Jagdeep Sehgal, appealed to citizens/customers to demand bills from sellers/shopkeepers.
