In an informal meeting with former Jammu and Kashmir chief minsiter Dr. Farooq Abdullah, former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura discussed the pipeline projects of his Punjab based NGO, called Punjab Rural Development Society (PRDS) at Pahalgam, Srinagar today. Mr. Farooq Abdullah is the chief patron of the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development society also.

Brahmpura said that wants to set up a hospital and old age home in the name of his late father, Mr Ranjit Singh Brahmpura in his constituency so that the elders who need accomodation and medical treatment can be benefited from this service. Brahmpura pointed out to Farooq Abdullah that more than a decade earlier, the All India National Champions Trophy hockey at Bakshi stadium, Amar Singh college, polo ground in Srinagar used to be held where Punjab sent its two teams until 2004, which was discontinued due to astroturf deficiencies.

Now everything is in place to promote hockey, we wants it to again start and Punjab to play in it. “We want it to resume as soon as possible and teams from the state of Punjab would be motivated to play there.

As hockey is a national game of our country. Both the leaders also expressed their concern on the growing drug addiction in Punjab and Jammu &

Kashmir.

“The rampant use of drugs in both the states is destroying the youth. We would hold awareness programmes against the drugs in Punjab and Jammu & amp; Kashmir through our NGOs so that the energy of the youth can be channelised in the right direction and they build up their bright future,” said Dr.

Abdullah and Brahmpura.

No matter what natural calamity strikes, both the states Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir stand by each other. In this difficult time, people affected by floods in Punjab should act with courage and ease.

Everything will be fine according to God’s will,” said Dr. Abdullah. Dr. Farooq Abdullah also remembered former Akali MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura as a sincere friend and nice politician who continued to serve the people till the end of his life.
