Block Nowshera sets new standards in School Health Program

In a remarkable achievement, Block Nowshera has established a precedent-setting School Health Program, ensuring that students receive essential health services directly in their classrooms.

As part of the ongoing campaign "Meri Mati Mera Desh" and in conjunction with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Block Nowshera has designated every Wednesday as "School Health Day." This innovative initiative aims to address the health needs of students residing in remote and challenging regions. 

The weekly School Camps are being organized under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Rajiv Sharma Director Health Services Jammu, Kartar Singh ADC Nowshera and Dr. Rajinder Kumar, CMO Rajouri. Spearheading this initiative is Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO Nowshera.

During a recent event held this Saturday, the health team paid a visit to Govt. HS School Seeri. The team consisted of dedicated medical professionals, including Dr. Akram, Dr. Gafoor, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Sumit, Dr. Mohit, Ravi Kant, TB Supervisor, Kunal, Saleem, Health Educators, Ravi, Lab. Tech, Yogesh, Dental Tech, Saryu, FMPHW, Kuldeep JHI, Digpal, Pharmacist and other invaluable staff members along with ASHA workers. Together, they organized a comprehensive health camp at Govt High Secondary School Seeri.

Over the past several months, the health team has been diligently working in the field, making a significant impact. The team offered counselling services to adolescent boys and girls and distributed essential iron and calcium tablets. 

A crucial aspect of student health, deworming, was carried out using Albendazole. The camp also provided various lab services, including blood grouping and HB testing. Furthermore, students benefited from dental, ENT, and eye check-ups, along with general medical examinations and treatment.

The health camp also emphasized critical health topics such as HIV-AIDS awareness, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the importance of using iodized salt, mental health, and the Anaemia Mukt Bharat initiative. Demonstrations on proper handwashing techniques and the significance of hygiene for overall well-being were also conducted. 

Health experts addressed menstrual hygiene concerns and distributed menstrual napkins, contributing to a more informed and healthy student body.As part of their holistic approach, students were screened for health issues, and immediate treatment was administered for minor ailments. 

Free medicines, including ayurvedic tonics and immunity boosters, were provided to the students. The proactive engagement of the public and school staff, who lauded the health department's efforts in bringing vital services directly to their doorsteps, underscored the program's success.

Block Nowshera's pioneering School Health Program not only demonstrates the commitment to the well-being of students but also serves as an exemplar for other regions to follow. This endeavour aligns seamlessly with the overarching goal of ensuring a healthier and more prosperous future for all students.
