Junior Movie Review

Story & Screenplay

The story starts with the introduction of Amiek Virk (Junior) who follows the same daily routine of his life and suddenly loses his daughter in an event  which heats him up for revenge from the culprits fueled by Samaira's ( Srishti Jain) promise to make the culprits suffer. How he executes the plan to conquer the culprits and what made him a deadliest man around will be displayed in the movie itself.

The screenplay was a bit fussy which made things clumsy at a point but somehow managed to maintain the excitement and thrill for the audiences.

Acting

Amiek Virk, who portrays Junior (Jai Singh) is the movie's heart and soul. With pride, we can announce that Punjabi cinema has produced its first action hero. He can be undoubtedly labelled as the movie's rocking star, thanks to his intense action sequences, menacing gaze, and commanding onscreen presence.

Marking her Punjabi film debut, Srishti Jain excelled and gave a standout performance as Samaira. Her language never gave her any signs of discomfort.

Kabir Bedi's on-screen presence is plenty for the audience to applaud, he went above and beyond to perfectly portray his character. His strong voice adds up some spice to his evil persona.

Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat, the Ghajini of Bollywood, gives an energetic push to the movie with his outstanding performance as antagonist.

Ajay Jethi's role as a cop adds charm to the film with his strong voice and understanding.

The remainder of the ensemble cast did a good job of supporting, but some of the actors who played the role of media appeared to be extremely blunt, which could have been better.

Music

The tracklist of the film is really out of the league and each song from the film is filled up with deep diverse emotions be it ‘Naseeba’ which shows the pain of separation of a child from parent, ‘Shikwa’ which is sad heartbreak song, ‘Manjil’ which is high on motivation or be it the most special one ‘Shiv Aarti’, the powerful devotional song. Nothing seems to be forced, every track was fitted according to the situation which enhanced the essence of the scene.

Sricharan Pakalt through his compositions has demonstrated an unparalleled background score to elevate the film and make it a memorable one for the audiences. He stands out as a master for crafting gripping and immersive Background Score for the Junior.

Director & DOP

For creating such a fascinating action thriller in our language, director Harman Dhillon & Team Nadar Films deserves special praise. He simply made Amiek appear to be the deadliest hunter of the world at large. During the first 15 to 20 minutes, it was difficult to believe we were watching a Punjabi film.

Action director Yannick Ben & Amritpal Singh justifies to be equally appreciated for the stunning choreography and execution of the action sequences which came out as the centre of attraction of the film.

Dop Parvaez.K has captured some delightful never seen before eye catching action sequences. He has perfectly managed in presenting the chronology that grabbed the eyeballs of the audiences and served them an alluring visual treat and cinematic experience which brought a sense of realism in them.

Conclusion

We can call this film a magnificent epitome for the Punjabi industry which has marked its presence in the minds of people and will be remembered for a long time for elevating the levels of Punjabi film industry with its action presentation.

Meanwhile, 5 Dariya News gives Junior 4.5 stars. Half star is snipped for some clumsy screenplay and some unusual act performed by some of the supporting cast.
