JKAACL organises Multilingual Mushaira to celebrate Independence Day

J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Centre for Arts, Jammu, organised a Multilingual Mushiara here in K. L. Saigal Hall. The programme was organized to celebrate Independence Day by recalling the war heroes and paying a poetic tribute to them.  

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. He was accompanied on presidium by renowned writers  S. Pritpal Singh, Prof Lalit Mangotra, Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL and Shruti Awasthi, regional Director, IGNCA.

The Div Com, in his address, hailed JKAACL and IGNCA Jammu for organizing the literary program to recall the sacrifices of freedom fighters and know how the People can protect the honour, pride and prestige of the Country. “We Indians have to be united as India is a Country of diversity with different religions, casts, languages and Culture,” he added.

He further added that the administration will earnestly collaborate with JKAACL and IGNCA in organizing such functions on a bigger platform to provide young and budding writers and poets a chance to share their literary works with renowned writers. “This will help in developing writing skills in the young generation who had lost this skill of writing in this electronic age’ he added.

Earlier, Secretary JKAACL, Bharat Singh welcomed the Guests by presenting a flower bouquet. He also presented a shawl and bouquet to the Chief Guest. In his welcome address, the Secretary JKAACL said that the main thought behind organizing this program was to highlight the importance of this Day in our lives.

In ancient days our Country was known as the Golden sparrow and what happened to this country, the people here had to suffer cruelty or unjust acts of exploitation, oppression, and wrongdoing of slavery. And after a lot of struggle, our country got Independence on 15th August, 1947, he added.

Shruti Awasthi, Director, IGNCA, Jammu thanked the Chief Guest for encouraging Culture oriented activities. She said that IGNCA has just started its activities in Jammu and it will not restrict to organizing the cultural programmes but also contribute in the field of research and development of art and culture of J&K.

Later, the Multilingual Mushaira began in which renowned writers/ poets along with young writers presented their poetry in Hindi Dogri, Punjabi, Urdu and Gojri. The writers  included Prof. Lalit Magtora (Awardee), Pritpal Singh Betab (Awardee), Prof. Raj Kumar (Awardee), Dr. Ashok Kumar (Awardee), Sh. Sanjeev Bhasin(Awardee),  Sheikh Mohd Kalyan, Bindiya Tickoo, Surinder Kour Neer , Smt.Vijaya Thakur, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Dr. Sandeep Sufi (Awardee), Sushil Bagana, , Dr. Liaqat Jafri, Sheikh Altaf, Vishwadeep,  Ahmad Shehnaz, Ifran Arif, Geetika Kohli, Raj Kumar Chandan, Dr. Shahnaz Qadri and  Naseem Akhtar.

This was followed by a musical evening by the renowned artist of J&K  Ms. Deepali Watal, who with her melodious voice mesmerized the audience. She was equally supported by Rakesh Jasotra on Flute, Vijay Anand on Dholak, Chandan on synthesizer.The proceedings of the programme were ably conducted by   Reeta Khadyal, Assistant Editor, JKAACL.
