Bhawanigarh declared Punjab’s first ODF plus Aspiring Block: Jitendra Jorwal

Liquid waste management facility available in all 66 villages of Bhawanigarh block

District administration Sangrur has added another feather in its cap as 100 percent villages of Bhawanigarh block have been declared ODF plus aspiring. Notably, Sangrur district also became the first district to reach into the green zone a few months ago. 

Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal said that the teams were continuously working towards the comprehensive improvement of villages and in this regard, whether it is centrally sponsored schemes or state sponsored schemes, the hardworking officers and employees were constantly taking meaningful steps. 

He said that the liquid waste management projects have been completed in all 66 villages of Block Bhawanigarh. He said that projects of liquid waste management or solid waste management in villages were being implemented by Panchayati Raj Department under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen.

It is also worth mentioning here that as district Sangrur was included in the green zone under ODF Plus by the Ministry of Jal Shakti of the Government of India in April, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal asked the teams to complete the next phase of this mission with more enthusiasm. 

Deputy Commissioner also congratulated the teams of Panchayati Raj, Water Supply and Sanitation department, Rural Development and Panchayat department and others who were working under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (d) Varjit Walia to achieve this goal.
