Omar pays tribute to Martyrs of 13 July 1931

The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid a rich tribute to martyrs of 13 July 1931. He was accompanied by Additional Director General Arms Mr. S.M Sahai, Inspector General of Police Mr. A.G Mir, and S.S.P Srinagar  Amit Kumar  and District Magistrate Srinagar Mr Farooq Ahmad Shah along with other cabinet ministers and bureaucrats. On 13 July 1931  large number of people was assembled outside Srinagar’s central jail to protest against the arrest of Abdul Qadeer and  discretion of Holy Quraan. Meanwhile during that Dogra army under the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh opened indiscriminant  firing on protesters resulting the killing of 21 Kashmir people mostly young people. 

Peoples Democratic Parties senior leader Tariq Hamid Qaraa while talking to Media Persons in Srinagar said that martyrs of 13 July shows us lighten path.Castigating National Conference for imposing restriction in down town city he says that this government is totally failed in every manner. Qaraa further added that ruling party of J&K has shown worst face during 2010 turmoil in which more than 100 people got killed and hundreds got injured. Meanwhile, while describing martyrs of 13 July 1931, Omar termed them as "heroes of the struggle against suppression and autocracy". Omar said sacrifice of the Martyrs to free society from  autocracy laid edifice for democracy and human dignity and is one of the richest chapters of Jammu and Kashmir's history.  "The best way to pay homage to the Martyrs is to help create equitable and palatable environment for everyone to grow and  nurture in a democratic atmosphere. Let all of us join hands to develop a society based on justice and principles of secular democratic temperament," Omar said in a message on the eve of Martyrs' Day tomorrow.
