District Committee discusses revival of Cooperatives, implementation of "World's Largest Grain Storage Plan” at Doda

Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan today chaired a meeting of District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) to discuss the rejuvenation of Cooperative Societies in the District and implementation of World's Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector.

It was informed in the meeting that the district has 27 registered Cooperative Societies, out of which 26 are functional and are making profit for them. New cooperative societies have been proposed in the Agro sector, Jan Aushadhi, and other such fields of business viable in the district. 

The Cooperative department has recovered an amount of Rs 14 lakh from NPAs out of the total 27 lakh outstanding amount. The information was provided by the Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Sumit Kumar, while briefing the meeting about the departmental activities in the district.

The DC appreciated the efforts of the department for making more than 50 percent recovery of NPAs and asked the functionaries to rejuvenate the existing cooperative societies to enhance their sphere of activities/ business, negotiation capacity and profit making/ earning capacity. 

He advocated for new cooperatives in the field of Agri-tech and Agro based sectors. He asked for developing a cooperative platform for catering the surplus milk production and vegetables in the district. Detailed discussion was held with the members of the District Cooperative Development Committee on the implementation and monitoring of the World's Largest Grain storage Plan.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Cooperative Department to coordinate with Agriculture Department and other Line Departments in identifying PACS which show increasing trend in Grain Production for considering such PACS in World's Largest Grain Storage Plan in the local Cooperative Sector.

The Agriculture Department was asked to submit the Block-wise data of Grain Production so that deserving PACS may be identified and put in Plan accordingly.The DC emphasised on opening of Jan Aushadi centres by the cooperatives and laid emphasis on roping in pharma graduates in such cooperatives so that the best medicine at the best price could be made available to the deserving. He emphasised on ensuring the most appropriate and productive location of the Jan Aushadis.  

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Pran Singh; Chief Planning Officer Suresh Kumar, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, AD Fisheries, TSO FCS&CA Doda and representatives of Cooperative Societies and other concerned departments.
