PUC reaches Kishtwar for three days tour; Saroori chairs meeting at Chatroo

Stressed for early completion of remaining RGGVY phase II projects

Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, who today called for early completion of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) phase II projects in district Kishtwar and Doda.Headed by its chairman, G. M. Saroori, the Committee during its inspection of developmental projects in Chenab Valley districts noted with concern slow progress over the Tourism projects on account of delay in payment. A large number of people including Panches and Sarpanches of Chatroo, Kuchal, Chingam, Sigdi, Mugalmaidan, Kurya, Pasarkote, Gorinal, participated in the meeting. The people of the area raised several issues including electricity, ration, Kerosene, Sugar, Atta, infrastructure, etc.

Saroori asked the Power Development Department (PDD) to accelerate pace to ensure time bound completion and execution of Rs 40 crores RGGVY phase II projects each for district Kishtwar and Doda beside replace worn out and dilapidated poles and conductors thereon on war footing.He asked for early completion of Detailed Project Report (DPR) of 2MV Chatroo Nallah, Sarthal Bhagra, Kuli Gad, Thakrie, Bhalessa and others Power projects located in Kishtwar and Doda district. Mr. Saroori asked the officers to press all resources into service and work with extra zeal and dedication to provide improved services to the people and ensure completion of all under execution projects in time. He also stressed the need for a coordinated approach to clear various bottlenecks and improving work culture at the grass root level in Power sector.

Saroori also took strong note of in-completion of construction work of Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Chingam since past 7 years due to non-payment of the said building by Director Tourism Jammu beside directed early completion of Government Degree College Chatroo building, Dak Bungalow Sinthan maidan and stressed for early start of Kishtwar-Sinthan Tourism project of Rs 8 crore has already been sanctioned under which Yatra Sarai, Huts, parks and allied infrastructure will be developed, the Chariman PUC Saroori added.Earlier, Managing Director, JKSPDC, Power Development Commissioner, Mr. Mehraj Kakroo briefed the meeting about the achievements registered under different schemes by the PDD during the current year so far in Chenab Valley districts.He also briefed that 90 Villages have been electrified by RGGVY so far and 8 are in-completed. He (MD PDC) assured the committee that before 30th July 2014 remaining villages under RGGVY phase II will be complete.

Legislators gave their valuable suggestions for further improvement in the working of Power department.The Legislators Charanjit Singh, Syed Asgar Ali, Naresh Kumar and Sham Lal Bhagat comprised the Committee members on tour to Chenab valley beside MD PDC, Mehraj Ahmed Kakroo, Power projects heads, beside district and sectoral officers and people in large were present on the occasion.Earlier Committee headed by G. M. Saroori visited the road accident site at Sinthan and has expressed deep grief over the road accident on Kokernag-Kishtwar road near Sinthan Top in which 9 officials of Sheep Husbandry Department loss their lives.PUC Committee conveyed their solidarity and sympathy and prayed for peace to the departed souls.It is pertinent to mention here that Committee on Public Undertakings today reaches Kishtwar for three days visit for inspection of local spots with PDD Halt at Kishtwar beside inspection of Pakal Dul, Rattle Power Project, Kathaey Project and meetings with district administration Kishtwar and Doda.
