DC Senu Duggal Councels Patients At Khui Khera Ooat Centre On International Day Against Drug Abuse

Reinforcing her administration's all out efforts to eradicate drug abuse, the Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal on Monday asked those engaged in treating the addicts to observe greater empathy, sensitivity and understanding of circumstances which push people towards this life-threatening menace.

We must reorient ourselves towards needs and requirements of those battling to win over this disease and our conversations with them must include language and attitudes that are respectful and non-judgemental, Dr. Duggal said here during her interaction with addicts and staff at CHC Khui Khera OOAT Clinic.

The Deputy Commissioner was here to attend an awareness programme being observed as part of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.Prevention is vital in our fight against this menace, Dr. Duggal underlined while asking the officials concerned to further step up awareness drive especially amongst youngsters and in rural areas abutting border region of the district.

Lauding the staff engaged in state fight against this menace of drug abuse - whom she termed as anti-narcotics warrior for their unflinching grit and fight - the DC said everyone involved in this noble cause of weening away our youngsters away from life-altering addiction are doing national service.

Underlining state government's steadfast commitment to fully end this scourge from face of our state, the Deputy Commissioner assured round the clock efforts towards this end while seeking the continuous cooperation of all officers and officials of administration.

Meanwhile, special camps were organized today at all oat clinics in the district for the counseling of drug addicts. Apart from medical experts, senior civil officials also participated in these camps. In these camps, 532 drug addicts were medically examined and counseled to encourage them to come forward to quit drugs.On this occasion ADC (G) Avneet Kaur and Civil Sergeon Dr Satish Goyal were also present.
