Vacating UNMOGIP from its office in Delhi unrealistic: Hurriyat (M)

Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Thursday convened the meeting of Hurriyat’s Executive Council, General Counsel and Working Committee members at conglomerates headquarters located in Rajbagh.According to a statement issued to KNS, the meeting which was attended by representatives of all the Hurriyat constituents took a detailed view of the ongoing political situation and organizational matters. Besides, the meeting also finalized the two day programme to be held to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of July 13, 1931 martyrs.

It was decided that on July 12, 2014, Hurriyat would organize a seminar titled “13 July 1931- The starting chapter of the Kashmir Freedom Movement” at Hurriyat headquarters. It was also decided that a resolution on the political stand and line of action for the resolution of Kashmir issue, based on the Hurriyat constitution would be passed at this occasion.On July 13, 2014, the APHC Chairman would lead a peaceful rally from historic Jamia Masjid to Mazar-e-Shuda Naqashbandh Sahab (RA) to pay tributes to the July 13, 1931 martyrs and offer a collective Fateh Khwani. On the same day, different Hurriyat leaders would also lead the rallies from different corners of Kashmir to converge at historic Jamia Masjid, besides separate programmes would be held at Sopore, Handwara, and Islamabad to pay tributes to the martyrs.

Terming the decision of Government of India asking the UNMOGIP office to vacate the government building from New Delhi as unrealistic and contrary to the ground realities, it was stated that GOI should accept that Kashmir is a dispute and needs political courage to resolve it. They further stated by closing the UN observers office and unleashing repression on Kashmiris would not solve the Kashmir problem and instead would aggravate it.The participants stated that the UN resolutions on Kashmir is a stark reality, adding, apart from Pakistan, India too has pledged at the international forum to implement those resolutions in letter and spirit. Though UN has failed sofar to play its part in the resolution of Kashmir but this fact does not undermine the legality of UNSC resolutions on Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari, Bilal Gani Lone, Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi, Musadiq Adil, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Advocate Abdul Majid Banday, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Syed Salim Geelani, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Abdul Mannan Bukhari, Chowdhary Shaheen Iqbal, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Sofi Mushtaq Ahmad, Shahid Saleem, Abdul Qayoom, GN Zaki, Khaleel Muhammad Khaleel, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Hubii, GN Nagoo, Farooq Mamooshi and Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi.  (KNS)
