Department of Life Sciences, Rayat Bahra University organised awareness workshop on Blood Stem Cell Donation in collaboration with Datri Blood Stem cell donor’s registry, Chennai, registered under Government of India under the patronage of Hon’ble Chancellor, S. Gurvinder Singh Bahra and guidance of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Parvinder Singh and convene-ship of Prof. (Dr.) Simerjit Kaur, Dean Students Welfare.

The workshop was conducted with a mission to save lives of those suffering from life threatening fatal blood disorders like Blood Cancer, Thalassemia, Leukaemia, Aplastic Anaemia, Sickle Cell Anaemia etc.Ms. Anuradha Tandon, Senior Associate - Partnerships & Medical Affairs, DATRI foundation told that DATRI is working towards creating a wide and diverse database of potential Blood Stem Cell Donors that can be accessed by any patient, living anywhere in the world, in need of a Blood Stem Cell Transplant. 

She elaborated the process of blood stem cell donation and collected the swabs of the students who voluntarily registered with the Datri foundation.Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh stated that Rayat Bahra University is committed towards community services and this workshop is also an initiative to do something for the benefit of the society.Prof. (Dr.) Simerjit Kaur, Dean Students Welfare, highlighted the significance of the blood stem cell donation and motivated the young minds to be life savers.
