Bhagwant Mann honoured 8 medal winners of District Moga with cash prizes

Provides 32 lakh rupees to Tejinderpal Singh Toor and other players

To promote sports in the state and to encourage the youth towards sports, the Punjab government is giving cash prizes to the medal winners in the national games. 141 athletes of the state who won medals in the National Games-2022 held in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, were felicitated by the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Bhagwant Mann awarded a cash amount of 5.43 crores.

Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh said that in these National Games, Tejinderpal Singh Toor, the proud international player of district Moga, won the gold medal in the Shot Put competition of athletics. 

Due to this, he was honoured with an amount of 5 lakh rupees.He said that 8 sportsmen including Tejinderpal Singh Toor of district Moga had won gold and silver medals in these games.  

He said that three players of the district, Manveer Kaur, Harvinder Kaur and Parkash Kaur also won gold medals in the team category softball competition and the Punjab government awarded these players with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.

He said that sportspersons Kulwinder Singh, Karamjit Singh, Bhagwan Singh and Jasmail Singh had won silver medals in rowing sport, they were given Rs.3 lakh each.

He said that Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Mann announced that these winning athletes will be given 16 thousand rupees every month for the preparation of the next national level games so that they continue their practice in a more advanced manner and win maximum medals in the next national level games.  

Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh congratulated the sportsmen of District Moga for this honour and wished them good wishes for more proud achievements in the future.  

He also appealed to other children to take inspiration from these sportsmen and shine the name of their parents, district Moga and Punjab.  On this occasion, District Sports Officer Mr Baljinder Singh was also present.
