Jal Jeevan Mission awareness program held in Kishtwar

The Project Management Consultancy, Mission Directorate, Jal Jeevan Mission J&K, and District Administration, District Jal Jeevan Mission, Kishtwar organised a handholding cum awareness programme at Conference Hall DC Office Kishtwar. 

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav was chief guest of the occasion, and Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Kishtwar Zakir Hussain Wani was also present. The event had nearly 600 participants including PRIs, Pani Samiti members, ASHA Workers, Anganwari workers, field staff of Jal Shakti Department (PHE), District Project Management Unit JJM Kishtwar Staff, representatives of Implementation Support Agency, and GVK Kishtwar water testing lab staff. 

In his address, Deputy Commissioner highlighted the various aspects of Jal Jeevan Mission and steps being undertaken to provide clean and safe drinking water to every household in the district. He apprised the stakeholders about the JJM scheme and the role being played by PRIs and Pani Samiti members in its implementation and execution of other JJM projects in various panchayats of the District Kishtwar. 

He directed to rationalise the Pani Simitis in the next few days as per the guidelines and emphasised on them to play a proactive role and support in executing and functioning of the schemes under JJM. 

Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Kishtwar, Sunil Sharma also apprised the stakeholders about the JJM Scheme and laid emphasis on them to assist the administration to make the “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” mission successful. 

From Mission Directorate, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Sajal Srivastava, IEC, UT Team Leader, Project Management Consultancy conducted a detailed session highlighting the various aspects of water management and immediate measures to ensure clean tap water to every household. 

He explained the role and duties of various stakeholders and demonstrated data entry mechanisms and other indicators of Jal Jeevan Mission with regard to the dashboard/website. Other topics discussed included rainwater harvesting, usage of grey water, water quality, water-borne diseases, water saving, and the importance of "Soak Pits." 

The program was conducted by Riaz Ahmed Butt, Coordinator, IEC, JJM, Kishtwar, who presented a detailed analysis of various aspects and achievements of Jal Jeevan Mission.
