Adipurush: FIR Filed Against Director Om Raut & Producer Over New Poster Of The Film, Know The Reasons

The upcoming highly anticipated film Adipurush which has been in pipeline for almost two years has again landed itself in controversy. The makers of the film recently unveiled the new poster of the film which has become the topic of discussion and has landed the team of Adipurush in trouble again. 

An FIR has been filed by Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari, a Sanatan Dharma preacher, against the producer and the director Om Raut for hurting the religious sentiments as the poster displays the characters of Ramayana in an inappropriate way. The complaint has been lodged at Sakinaka police station in Mumbai through Mumbai High Court Advocates, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra. 

According to the complaint that Sanjay filed, it stated as  “Adipurush has been made on the biography of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram from the Hindu religion holy book Ramcharitmanas. The holy book Ramcharitmanas holds importance in Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma has been following this holy book Ramcharitmanas for many ages.”

“Adipurush has been made on the biography of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram from the Hindu religion holy book Ramcharitmanas. The holy book Ramcharitmanas holds importance in Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma has been following this holy book Ramcharitmanas for many ages. The poster shows Maryadapurushottam Lord Shri Ram in a costume contrary to the natural spirit and nature of Ramcharitmanas mentioned in the Hindu scripture,” the complaint further added. 

The complaint also added that the characters shown in the poster are also not wearing the thread of Janeu and spoke about its importance in Hindu Sanatan Dharma. The FIR has been registered under Section 295 (A), 298, 500, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. 

The new poster was unveiled on the occasion of Ram Navami which featured Prabhas as Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita, Sunny Singh as Laxman and Devdatta Nage as Bajrang. 

Adipurush is based on the magnum Ramayana stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh in lead roles. The film directed by Om Raut and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series is slated to hit the cinema screens on 16 June 2023 in 3D Format.
