One of the biggest popular sitcoms across the world, The Big Bang Theory streaming on OTT platform Netflix has landed itself in trouble due to a controversial statement made for great Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit in one of its episodes. As a result, a legal case has been filed against Netflix.

A political analyst named Mithun Vijay Kumar has filed a case against Netflix for the offensive statements made on Madhuri Dixit in the first episode of season two of the series ‘The Big Bang Theory’ in which comparisons were made between Bollywood actresses Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Speaking about the comments made on Madhuri in the episode of The Big Bang Theory, Kunal Nayyar's character Raj Koothrapalli and Jim Parsons's character Sheldon Cooper were indulged in a discussion of comparing the actresses Madhuri and Aishwarya to conclude who is better and then Sheldon Cooper calls Aishwarya Rai “the poor man’s Madhuri Dixit”, while in counter Raj Koothrapalli reply as, "Aishwarya Rai is a goddess, by comparison, Madhuri Dixit is a leprous prostitute."

A legal notice has been sent to Netflix office in Mumbai regarding the same. Mithun took to his twitter and shared about the case and said, “Recently, I came across an episode of the show Big Bang Theory on Netflix where Kunal Nayyar's character uses an offensive and derogatory term to refer to the legendary Bollywood actress @MadhuriDixit. As a fan of Madhuri Dixit since childhood, I was deeply disturbed by the dialogue. I found it highly derogatory and offensive towards Indian culture and women.”

So I asked my lawyer to send a legal notice to Netflix, requesting that they remove the episode from their platform. It's important to hold media companies accountable for the content they distribute, and I hope that @NetflixIndia will take this matter seriously,” he further added.
