CBC commemorates Martyrdom Day by organising Cycle Rally and Declamation Contest

To commemorate the Martyrdom Day of the three great martyrs of the Indian Freedom Struggle - Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organised a cycle rally, today.
The rally was organised in close coordination with the district administration, GNA University and Fit Bikers Club to mark the occasion.The rally was flagged off by the District Education Officer Harbhagwant Singh, DSP (City) Palwinder Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Hemant Sharma and Registrar Dr. Kunal Bains of GNA University along with Field Publicity Officer, CBC, Rajesh Bali.
The rally was culminated at the Digital Library after passing through various places in the city, spreading the message of 'Say No to Drugs'. Hundreds of students, youngsters and specially members of Fit Bikers Club participated in it. Before reaching the venue of the Exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at the library, all of them paid their warm tributes to the trio at Bhagat Singh Chowk.
At the exhibition, they were shown some rare pictures related to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev including the photo of Telegram of hanging them, their death warrant and the pen used to sign the warrant.
They were also made aware of the flagship schemes of the central government. CBC official Gurkamal Singh especially apprised them about Government of India's application Digi Locker where we all can keep our documents instead of carry these along like our vehicle related documents, educational certificates etc.
International Cyclist and Swachh Bharat Mission icon of Hoshiarpur, Balraj Singh Chauhan specially came to be a part of the rally. His presence motivated all the participants.
Later, a declamation contest on Patriotism dedicated to the martyrs was also organised at the exhibition venue. This was part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Many schools and college students participated in it.
Deputy Distt. Education Officer Dheeraj Vasishat was the Chief Guest of the event.Addressing the students he said Punjabis are a symbol of freedom struggle. Patriotism is in our blood but the need is to connect the present youth with our those ancestors who are epitome of sacrifices and social service for a better society."
Teach them about those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country so that they imbibe the values which are needed for a safe and secure society", said he.Panel of three judges Tarlochan Singh, Ramandeep Kaur and Maridula Sharma, principals of government senior secondary schools from Kharkan, Khuaspur Heeran and Phalahi judged the contest.
Winners of the declamation contest were: First position goes to Jasmine of GSSS, Phalahi, Second Manmeen Kaur, Govt College, Hoshiarpur, Third prize went to Preeti from GSS School, Railway Mandi and the consolation prize was won by Neha Sharma of Govt College, Hoshiarpur.
Meanwhile, Adv. Aarti Sharma, Legal Officer, One Stop Centre meant for to help women effected from domestic violence, made the audience aware about their rights and how to complain about domestic violence.
The India Gate, that was created by the CBC at the venue and attracted all, has been presented to the district administration, Hoshiarpur.
The four-day exhibition, which was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Parkash on March 20, successfully culminated today.
The coordinatiin of the district administration was appreciable. During these four days a number of women and young girls were checked free of cost for breast cancer and vaccinated to prevent them from cervical cancer.
Many got their Aadhar numbers linked with voter cards, Unique Disability ID cards were made, plantation held and many were made aware of various flagship schemes of the central government besides other required information through infographics displayed there.
