Plant trees and save water for healthy and safe future -Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal

To celebrate World Water Day, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organised a special lecture at the venue of the Photo Exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Digital Library, here today.

Hundreds of ITI students and representatives of Nehru Yuva Kendra besides general public participated in the event.Earlier, to mark the International Forest Day which was celebrated yesterday, plantation was also held in coordination with the District Forest Officer near Bhangi choe where the Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and Asstt Commissioner Vyom Mittal along with Field Publicity Officer of CBC Rajesh Bali planted saplings. 

Block officer of Forest department Harshika was also present on the occasion.Komal Mittal said that this is her endeavour to make Hoshiarpur more green. She called upon all to contribute personally also in planting saplings for the better environment and also look after them.

She also said that water conservation should be everybody's concern. "We must collectively conserve water for the future generations. By just celebrating world water day is not enough rather we all should pledge not to waste water unnecessarily ", said she.

Speaking on the occasion at the exhibition venue,  Harbir Singh, Community Development Specialist from Department of Jal Jeevan Mission while speaking about the importance of water in our life said that as per United Nations' report our of every four people one doesn't get clean drinking water.  

Anju Sharma Information, Education and Communication Specialist (IEC) and Savita, Block Resource Coordinator (BRC) of the same department also addressed the audience on the importance of conserving water and hand wash.

Besides others, vice principal of the ITI Hoshiarpur Gurnam Singh was also present on the occasion.Cultural troupe of the CBC also performed at the venue and enthralled the audience besides giving message of save water through Nukkad Natak.

A model of India Gate set up there is attracting many and people are getting themselves clicked to keep their memory of visiting the exhibition.Stalls of Unique Disability ID (UDID), Aadhar Updation and Linking Aadhar with Voter Card set up at the exhibition site are providing best of their services to the public.

Field Publicity Officer, CBC-cum-Nodal Officer, Exhibition informed that tomorrow, to pay tributes to the three great martyrs of the Indian Freedom Struggle - Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, a cycle rally is being organised in coordination with the district administration, GNA College and Fit Bikers Club to mark the occasion. 

The rally which would pass through many areas of the city spreading the message of 'Say No To Drugs' will be culminating at Digital Library.A declamation contest on Patriotosm will also be organised amongst the students of various schools and colleges to mark the Martyrdom Day.
