It is recently reported that Amazon has decided to cut 9000 more jobs in the fresh round of layoff as per the CEO Andy Jassy who announced this in a memo to staff on Monday. So, Amazon will lay off 9000 more employees in coming weeks in addition to the 18000 workers who were affected in earlier layoffs which began in November and extended in January.

Speaking about the memo, Jassy said that the second phase of the annual planning process of the company completed this month which led to more job cuts. Jassy said, “Some may ask why we didn’t announce these role reductions with the ones we announced a couple months ago. The short answer is that not all of the teams were done with their analyses in the late fall; and rather than rush through these assessments without the appropriate diligence, we chose to share these decisions as we’ve made them so people had the information as soon as possible.”

The overriding tenet of our annual planning this year was to be leaner while doing so in a way that enables us to still invest robustly in the key long-term customer experiences that we believe can meaningfully improve customers’ lives and Amazon as a whole,” Jassy added.

The previous layoff primarily affected staffers in its retail, devices, recruiting and human resources groups. Talking about this layoff, this round is expected to impact  Amazon’s cloud computing, advertising, human resources and Twitch units.
