Indian Army’s Cheetah Helicopter Crashes In Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh During An Operational Sortie

It has been recently reported that an Indian Army’s Cheetah helicopter has crashed near Mandala located west of Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday. The helicopter crashed while flying during an operational sortie adding that two pilots are missing. 

As per the reports, the helicopter lost contact with the ATC (Air Traffic Control) around 9:15 am as per the Lt. Col. Mahendra Rawat, Army PRO at Guwahati who said, “A military aviation Cheetah helicopter flying an operational sortie was reported to have lost contact with the Air Traffic Control at 9.15 a.m. this morning.” 

The pilot and co-pilot, Lt. Col Vinay Banu Reddy and Major Jaynta A were on board are missing and a search operation has been launched to locate the pilots. The helicopter was taken off from Senge village in West Kameng district at 9 am and was on the way to Missamari, Assam, estimated to reach there around 9:45 am. 

Information was received around 12:30 pm from the villagers of Bangjalep, in Dirang who reported that a crash chopper was found which was still burning after which  search and rescue teams of army, SSB and police left from the spot.
