Prominent Bollywood actor who has played real-life inspired roles in the films Sanju, Raazi, Uri: The Surgical Strike,and Sardar Udham has recently been in talks for his upcoming film ‘Sam Bahadur’ and is all set to portray the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Vicky has recently announced the shoot wrap of the film.
Vicky took to his Instagram and shared a picture with the director Meghna Gulzar and penned down a gratitude note. He thanked the director, all the co-actors, the whole team, the Manekshaw Family, Indian Army and FM Sam H. F. J. Manekshaw himself. He also wrote that it feels proud to play a true legend and he learnt so much being a part of the team.

Sam Bahadur is based on the life and times of India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, one of the greatest war heroes and his military victory in the Indo-Pak war of 1971 led to the creation of Bangladesh. In the film, Vicky will be portraying the title role of Sam Manekshaw. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra playing the role of Silloo, Manekshaw’s wife and Fatima Sana Sheikh will be seen as Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The film ‘Sam Bahadur’ marks the second collaboration of Vicky and Meghna as actor-director duo. They previously worked in the 2018 film ‘Raazi’. Speaking about Sam Bahadur, it is directed by Meghna Gulzar whereas penned by Bhavani Iyer with Meghna’s father Gulzar and Shantanu Srivastava. The film is slated to release in theatres on 1 December 2023.
