AAP demands CBI inquiry into multi-crore Chandigarh Parking Scam
Seeks action against BJP Mayor and Chandigarh MC Officials for coalition with defaulter contractor

Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mayor Anoop Gupta for rampant corruption in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sought a CBI inquiry into the multi-crore Parking Scam to unearth the involvement of many senior BJP leaders and top MC officials.
Addressing a conference here, Punjab’s state chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang along with Senior AAP leader Pardeep Chabra, Chandigarh LoP Damanpreet Singh and AAP councilors lashed out at Chandigarh administrator Banwarilal Purohit and BJP leaders for ignoring the irregularities and corruption in the BJP-ruled Chandigarh MC.
Accusing Purohit of dancing at the tunes of BJP, Kang said that why he has turned blind eye towards rampant corruption in MC and patronizing venal BJP leaders in Chandigarh while he would vehemently interfere in the day-to-day affairs of Punjab government to hinder the progress of the state.
Raising questions over Chandigarh MC and police for not disclosing arrest of Sanjay Sharma, Director, Pashchatya Entertainment Pvt Ltd, for three days in connection with submitting fake bank guarantees of Rs 1.65 crore for running 57 paid parking lots in the city, Pardeep Chabra said that something is fishy in this entire case and BJP is trying to save their leaders and officials involved in this scam.
He said that Chandigarh parking is worth 4-5 crores.He said that it was not the first case of corruption but earlier, a firm M/s Arya toll and Selvel Company had cheated MC with several millions in collusion with the officials of the Corporation but no action was taken against them as well.
Leader of Opposition in Chandigarh MC Damanpreet Singh said that all the AAP MCs have also submitted a memorandum before the Chandigarh mayor Anoop Gupta to seek a special house session for a thorough discussion on the issue of corruption.
He said that MC Chandigarh is mired in controversy of corruption and the fraud committed by the paid parking contractor, audio of water meter readers claiming giving bribes to SDE and JE, fake issue of employment letters, irregularities by Lions Company and complaints against the outsourcing contractors etc.
The government should initiate action against erring officials at once. He also demanded to ensure that at least one house meeting with full agenda items is held properly every month as per the Act, a meeting is required to be called in the month of March, without fail.
