Nokia Unveils New Logo, Changes It After 60 Years To Signal Strategy Shift

Unveiling the new brand identity, Nokia announced on Sunday to change its iconic brand logo for the first time in the last 60 years to the signal strategy shift. With the complete new logo, telecom equipment makers focus on aggressive growth. Talking about the new logo unveiled, it is made up of five different shapes forming the word ‘Nokia’. Changing the blue colour scheme, the new logo has been dropped with a range of colours depending on its intended use. 

Chief Executive Pekka Lundmark told Reuters in an interview that, “There was the association to smartphones and nowadays we are a business technology company.”  On the eve of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelone on Monday, Lundmark spoke about the business updates. He set out a strategy with three stages: Reset, Accelerate and Scale. Lundark said that the reset stage is now complete and it marks the beginning of the second stage.

Nokia’s main focus is to sell gear to other businesses. It aims to grow its service provider business and sell equipment to telecom companies. Lundmark said, “We had very good 21% growth last year in enterprise, which is currently about 8% of our sales, (or) 2 billion euros ($2.11 billion) roughly.” He added, “We want to take that to double digits as quickly as possible.”
