Director Rural Sanitation inspects GOBARDHAN Plants in Suchetgarh Block

Director Rural Sanitation, Jammu and Kashmir, Charandeep Singh, visited village Jeora in Block Suchetgarh to inspect the progress of the GOBARDHAN projects. During his visit, the Director interacted with PRI members, general public and highlighted the benefits of the project.
The Director inquired about the progress of the project from officials of the implementing/executing agency, and gave instructions to expedite the work pace, get Geo-tagging done and also instructed them to install the pipeline and transport the fabricated domes for the project to the site simultaneously so as to save the time.
He assured the agency of full assistance from the department and asked them to complete the project well within the timeline. While interacting the Director, apprised that at present, 2 No of Gobardhan projects, 1 at Block Marh and 1 at Block R.S.Pura are successfully catering to the Biogas needs of around 20 Households in each block.
Further, the Department has taken initiative to install 36 No of more Gobardhan projects at different locations in the UT of J&K. Out of 36, the work for 10 nos of projects is already under progress.
The Director, Rural Sanitation stated that on one hand these projects shall manage the Solid Waste (Gobar) in the rural areas and on the other hand it will be source of financial support and also uplift the social status of Rural population.
In an effort to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of village, to make the village ODF Plus & to improve the lives of the villagers the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Govt. of India (GoI) had launched the Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan (GOBARDHAN) scheme in July 2020 under SBM-G Phase-II.
The aim of this scheme is to ensure cleanliness in villages and generate wealth and energy by converting cattle dung and solid agricultural waste into biogas and compost.
Gobardhan projects benefits the Rural people in general and women in particular by providing Biogas which is used as a clean fuel for cooking purpose and also improves the health of the users and improve the cleanliness in the villages.
The bioslurry residue left in the process is used as a organic manure by the rural population. The visit of Director, Rural Sanitation is part of the government's efforts to support and monitor the implementation of the GOBARDHAN project.
The project is expected to bring significant benefits to the local community, including improved sanitation, reduced pollution, and increased income from the sale of biogas and manure.
The SDM R.S Pura Ram Lal Sharma, Sarpanch, Field Officer, Rural Sanitation, Jammu &, BDO Suchetgarh also accompanied the Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K during the visit.
