Chief Minister plants ‘Ginko biloba’ sapling

Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister planted a sapling of ‘Ginko Biloba’, a medicinal plant at his official residence Oak Over here today. This plant is also known as fossil plant because of its longevity. Ginko Biloba plant is resistant to disease and insects and is known as living fossil because of its similarity to fossil dating back to 270 million years. Since long this plant had been used in traditional medicines and as a fruit. Extract of its leaves is used to cure dementia.

Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Forest Minister, Bawa Hardeep Singh, Chairman, H.P. Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Shri R.K. Gupta, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Shri S.S. Negi, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and other senior officers of the Forest Department were present on the occasion.
